Health Insurance Cover Options
Health Insurance Cover Options:
There are various options available to tailor your Health Insurance Cover. These are given below with a brief description of each option. Not all insurers will offer all the options.
Dental & Optical Cash Benefit
Health Insurance cover usually doen't cover routine dental and optical treatment, however some insurers offer a Dental and Optical cash benefit for an extra cover premium. This benefit contributes towards the expense of
routine dental treatment and cost of eye tests and glasses / contact lenses. If this is all you are looking for, without the private hospital treatment, you could
consider a Cash Plan, which is designed to reimburse you for these costs. Follow this link for more information on Cash Plans.
Policy Excess
There are various Excess options available depending on the insurer, ranging from £50 to £5000. The excess is usually applied per person per year. This means that each person on the policy, would pay at most the excess once in a
12 month period, irrespective of the number of claims. Some insurers apply the excess per claim, meaning you could pay the excess several times in a year for multiple claims, however this type of excess normally
comes with larger reduction in monthly premiums.
Psychiatric Cover
Provides cover for Psychiatric Treatment. In-Patient, Day-Patient and Out-Patient Cover options available depending on the insurer.
Travel Cover
Some insurers offer Travel Insurance to supplement their Health Cover. This usually incorporates overseas medical cover along with the travel benefits.
