Choosing the Right Cover
Choosing the Right Cover:
There are three levels of Health Insurance cover available. The level of cover that you select will be dependent on your own requirements and your budget.
Budget Cover
Budget Policies allow people to buy some protection against the cost of private treatment whilst keeping premium costs very low. Usually In-Patient and Day-Patient cover is included,
but there is often no allowance for Out-Patient Consultations - this means the patient either can pay for the outpatient consultations or choose to see the specialist on the NHS.
Six week policies are another budget option. Cover is restricted to cases where the NHS waiting list for the same treatment is over 6 weeks. This period begins once the specialist refers the patient for
treatment, not when the GP refers to the consultant in the first place.
Standard Cover
Standard Policies offer Full cover for In-Patient and Day-Patient treatment, and contain an allowance for Outpatient Specialist consultations and other therapies.
The higher the allowance chosen, the greater the premiums.
Comprehensive Cover
Comprehensive cover provides the widest scope of cover for members. They offer Full refund for In/Day/Out-Patient treatment and Hospital Charges. They provide cover for Psychiatric conditions and alternative therapies.
As such Comprehensive Policies are the most expensive level of cover.
